Ricky G is a guitarist, bassist, and vocalist based out of Southern California. He has toured internationally with members of the Mars Volta (Adrian Terazzas-Gonzalez), and has also worked with members of the Greyboy Allstars (Zak Najor), and world music group B*Side Players. He also leads his own original projects, Taste Machine and DGQ. He has a wide range of influences including: Jimi Hendrix, D’Angelo, Nas, Juan Louis Guerra, The Allman Brothers, Derek Trucks, Wes Montgomery, John Scofield, Soulive, Jaco Pastorious, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Spanky Alford. Music was always around him in his childhood; he grew up listening to the sounds of Disco, Bachata, Merengue, and Hip Hop in New York as a kid. He picked up guitar in high school, inspired by the band Black Sabbath, and the rest is history. He received a B.M. in Jazz Studies (Guitar) from San Diego State University in 2011. His teachers include: Joey Sellers, Joe Jewell, Mike Scott, John Stowell, Larry Koonse, Peter Sprague, Bob Boss, and Rick Helzer. He has performed at many festivals and venues in California including: The Playground Festival, Moe’s Alley, The Elbo Room, The OB Street Fair, Fiesta Del Soul, Winstons, North Park Festival of the Arts, The Loft at UCSD, The La Jolla Athenaeum, The Lyceum Theatre, Sacramento State Univ.
